Firefox Firefox Free alternate web-browser with added security and tabbed browsing.
ThunderbirdThunderbird Free e-mail client for viewing both your school and personal e-mails.
Opera Free alternate web-browser with added security and tabbed browsing. Check out their features page to find out more about what Opera has to offer you.
Filezilla FileZilla Free FTP, file transfer program that you can use to transfer files to and from your H: drive.
Symantec Anti-Virus The University offers Symantec Anti-virus software for $12 good for one year. Symantec can both detect and remove viruses and mal-ware from your system.
Trend Micro Free anti-virus scanner and spyware removal tool. This is web-based so you must be connected to the Internet when running the scanner.
AVG Free anti-virus software that can only scan for viruses not remove them. Good detection and it works with Windows Vista.
Windows Make sure you have all your Microsoft updates to avoid worms, viruses and hackers using known windows exploits. (Must use Internet Explorer)
SpybotSpybot Spyware removal tool. What is spyware?
Ad-Aware Take care of those annoying toolbars and ads that somehow manage to install themselves on your computer with a few easy clicks. What is ad-ware?

Protect your connection with an extra line of security using a personal firewall.
Adobe Acrobat Used to read PDFs and other Acrobat file types.
