Thunderbird	Free e-mail client for viewing both your school and personal e-mails.

FileZilla	Free FTP, file transfer program that you can use to transfer files to and from your H: drive.
	The University offers Symantec Anti-virus software for $12 good for one year. Symantec can both detect and remove viruses and mal-ware from your system.
	Free anti-virus scanner and spyware removal tool. This is web-based so you must be connected to the Internet when running the scanner.
	Free anti-virus software that can only scan for viruses not remove them. Good detection and it works with Windows Vista.
	Make sure you have all your Microsoft updates to avoid worms, viruses and hackers using known windows exploits. (Must use Internet Explorer)
Spybot	Spyware removal tool. What is spyware?
	Take care of those annoying toolbars and ads that somehow manage to install themselves on your computer with a few easy clicks. What is ad-ware?
Comodo	Protect your connection with an extra line of security using a personal firewall.
	Used to read PDFs and other Acrobat file types.
	Don't have word or power point, or like most, can't afford it. Here is a great substitute.
